Since ancient times cats have been a symbol of grace and poise. The word cat comes from the ancient Egyptian name "caute." In ancient Egypt, they had cat goddesses Isis and Ba'at, and were often depicted in art and even mummified just like humans. Egyptians held felines in the highest esteem, and killing one, even by accident, often resulted in death penalties. In Greek times, they were linked with cleanliness, lust, deviousness, and cunning. Back in the Stone Age, cats were buried next to their deceased owners. But most people do not get cat tattoos because of their historical importance. Mainly, men and women get cat tattoos because cats are free-spirited animals associated with the sense of independence, intellect and at times even symbols of rebellion. Cats are also very lovable and sweet making them the purrfect way for some to show off their nature.

"As long as I remember myself I loved to create things. First I was painting and sewing. Then it turned into photography and then on one of my trip to Nepal I fell in love with felted things. It was nearly 8 years ago when I first saw such unusual shapes and things I couldn't even understand how could be made from wool. It was incredible. Since then I decided to try to do it no matter what. I started to explore felting in wool I discovered unique material for creativity alive and warm. It demands a lot of efforts and skills and it always has own way and lives own life which force me to follow its lead, rethink the ideas I had and sculpt sometimes very different from what i wanted but still magic and beautiful.

A Japanese company called Samurai Age just created something quite interesting – samurai armor for cats and dogs. Pets are already like loyal samurais that stand by our side and protect us...so surely they deserve armor that would would bring out their warrior spirits. Samurai Age offers standardized armor sized for cats and small dogs, but they also make custom designs as well. The company will also sell sets modeled after armor worn by legendary Japanese samurais. For instance, the red armor on the kitty in one of the pics below is actually modeled after the armor worn by Sengoku hero Sanada Yukimura – that's pretty cool right?
