Turns Out This Cat Kept Stealing The Dogs’ Leftovers

No matter how hard owners try to cordon off certain areas, or place certain items up high so the cats don’t reach them, it seems like the cats always win in the end. Such is the case of Pickle, the cat of Reddit user u/fbb_katie_jane. No matter how much she’d gone around asking for advice on how to have her cat (healthily) lose weight, it seemed like the cat’s weight never goes down.

It turns out that even as she put the dogs’ bowls up high so the cat doesn’t reach it, the cat managed to find a way to reach it anyways, and had been supplementing her calorie-restricted diet. The only reason the owner found out was that the cat made the crucial mistake called “getting caught”.

The owner added in the comments that the cat also liked to open their cupboards and tear open food packages to eat. She said that she was scared to show off her cat online because of this, as many people online like to assume things about the poster and would yell that the owner was “abusing” the cat.

A reply to the owners’ comment said that “At one time we had four cats. One had (still does) tummy issues so they all get the same diet,” They added that even after the diet, the one cat remained overweight. “I talked to the vet and she said it was no problem. She was healthy and just carried more weight than the others. They aren’t machines, they have differences in metabolism just like we do!” said the commenter.

Some astute commenters brought up hormone issues, similar to what is present in some humans. The owner responded that she does have a thyroid condition, which does have people judge her and her cat.

Other commenters poured out their own thoughts on the situation:

Someone shared a story of a cat who struggles with the opposite issue The vet said she is just small framed and that’s okay! She did struggle to eat when she lived with my male cats as she’d scarf it down and puke it up. Now she does better and is more comfy[sic] and still is quite tiny, though.” said the commenter.

Nevertheless, most people who commented wanted all the best for the cat,, and for the owner, too.

Others opted to make a pun.

Some made a reference to an excuse some humans make.

Most comments turned out positive, mostly talking bout their own cats’ situation as well.
