How to Help Your Scared Cat!

We’ve all heard the expression “scared-y cat,” but when a cat is scared, it’s more than just a phrase. Cats can be afraid of a variety of things, and for many owners, determining the source of the problem and determining what to do next can be difficult. Unfortunately, if your cat is left alone, his or her fear can cause stress, anxiety, and even illness, especially since fears tend to worsen over time.

We’ve put together some pointers to help you determine whether your cat has a fear or phobia, as well as advice on how to help them. It’s always a good idea to have your cat checked by a vet if they start acting strangely. Although most fears are behavioral in nature, your veterinarian can look for any medical issues that may be causing your cat to be anxious and, if necessary, refer your cat to an accredited behaviorist who can assist them.
