Oh, to live in a place of relative calm and peace, isn’t that the dream? A Reddit user’s cat may just be living this dream that every sentient being must have. It does feel sometimes that we could all use a break to sleep and lounge in a giant’s bathroom sink.

u/Hatttori- has a cat named Osita, and according to her, this cat of hers ended up always sleeping in their bathroom sink, despite presumably being provided its own bed. How humble!
She also seems to be really small and cute, and that is certainly adorable, right? Not to worry, as the cat looks to be a young kitten, and thus at a healthy size for its age.
It’s generally a common phenomenon for cats to wind up in bathroom sinks and doesn’t cause harm to either the human or the cat. This is as long as the sink is constantly sanitized preferably with organic sanitizers that are proven to be pet-safe.
One of the reasons cats might be attracted to your bathroom sink is because the sound of water running from the faucet can sound a lot like the sound of dripping water which is a very attractive sound for cats.
Cats also like bathroom sinks because it’s a good place for them to drink from. Some cats will actually prefer the bathroom sink over their water bowl because it’s a lot closer to their own eye level. Bathroom sinks are usually a lot cooler than the bathroom floor because the cool air is able to circulate underneath. Another big reason is that they’re more hidden from view, and we all know how much shy these creatures are. The overflow hole makes it difficult for people to see them as they’re usually a bit deeper than the average box or bowl which makes it a good place to lay down.
Last but not least is because they’re usually a lot cleaner than other places in the house. This is because people tend to clean the bathroom a lot more often than other places in the house.
According to the original poster, the cat tends to get up to eat and drink water, which is certainly a reason to get off of the sink in the meantime. Though, if we’re being honest, maybe it’s up to the human to bring in the food there if only the sink wasn’t in the bathroom. One of the commenters suggested something that could be a nice alternative, perhaps the owner could acquire one of those water fountains used at schools, but a nicer-looking one.
After all, who else wouldn’t want to have their own water fountain at home, perfect for the feline royalty that lives with them.
