It’s important to know though, that they probably are not actually angry with you in a vengeful way. They’re just very sensitive creatures that can react negatively when something in the environment changes. So, if you feed them different cat food, bring them to the vet, or introduce a new pet, they may seem angry with you, but just know that they just probably are angry about the situation.
1. Your cat watches you from afar
Cats that are angry will keep their distance when they get confused by, say, quick movements, a sudden loud voice, or you getting in their space. How to calm her down? Let her have her moments, she’ll come when she’s ready.
2. Details are on the tail
There’s a lot to learn by paying attention to a cat’s tail. They may look fine, but if your cat’s tail starts lashing back and forth, that could either mean they’re focused on something they’re about to launch on, or they’re agitated. If you see them standing and their tail is held very low, they might be angry or annoyed. If it is puffed up, your cat is definitely angry.
3. Their ears go flat
Their ears will turn flat towards the side if they’re feeling threatened or upset. Their ears would almost look like airplane wings. This is an early warning to back off and stop what you’re doing to make the cat feel threatened. However, if your cat is already past that and is actually just angry, their ears will be completed flat to their head. This means that the cat feels in danger or cornered and is likely to attack and protect itself.
4. Refuses Favorite Meal
The cat may eat less or even refuse to eat if she is upset. This is often a reaction to an unfamiliar situation, an event at home, or a change in routine. However, this can also be a sign of illness. Make sure to bring her to the vet if she won’t eat for more than 2 days.
5. Won’t get near you
According to studies, if your cat is normally affectionate and snuggles with you a lot but suddenly doesn’t want to anymore, it may be a sign that they’re upset or angry. They’re gonna hang out on the other side of the room and refuse to come closer.
6. Their Fur Looks More Fluffy
This is the stereotype of an angry cat, crouching with an arched back with a bushy tail and fluffed-out fur. This will make the cat look bigger and more intimidating. No matter how cute or funny you find this posture is, don’t try to pet her. Give her the space that she needs, or she may attack you.
7. They pee on your items
Some cats are like this, they have a habit of showering pee on their owner’s items. However, if your cat normally does not do this and then suddenly does it one day, she is probably distressed.
8. Their whiskers will point down
Check your cat’s whiskers. If they’re usually not downwards and they are, that means they’re feeling threatened or angry.
