7 Artists share Their Purr-fect Work Online

Artists in the new age, aside from getting new mediums such as digital art and animation, have been able to form new communities in various online spaces. Most prominently back in the early internet was DeviantArt. Later on, they moved onto Tumblr and then spread throughout Twitter, Instagram, and even TikTok. In the latter two, they even started to show their processes by means of recording their screen while they do their art.

Cats are a staple of internet culture, as you may know. That’s even why this website exists in the first place. So these artists in various social media have taken to creating cat-related content to engage their current followers and even gain new ones. Here are some of our favorites:

Robot Cat

This artist had been inspired by their cat chasing a mouse, and so they interpreted it using their sci-fi art style. Now the cat has become a cyber-being that is chasing a cyber-mouse (not to be confused with a computer mouse).

Pop-Art Cat

This artist utilized a more pop-art style of illustrating a cat, utilizing a unique palette of colors with a limited selection. Their art is even available for physical purchase!

Cat With A Butterfly Friend (Or Food?)

This one looks lifted straight from a children’s book. You know, the ones we used to read back when we thought the whole world was sunshine and rainbows? Well, this artist put a feline twist onto the style as she drew a cat seemingly playing with a butterfly. And depending on your view of the world, it is either playing with the butterfly or catching it for food.

Book-cat

This piece is a depiction of the daily struggle of cat owners with books and keyboards alike. One moment your cat is vaguely near you, and the next, it’s already sleeping over your homework or daily reading. Oh well, you get a nice fluffy view. The work can wait.

The seven Meow-ly Sins

This artist used various cat memes on her phone to craft this masterpiece of a feline version of the “Seven Deady Sins” belief. It’s definitely cute, despite the slightly serious subject matter. You wouldn’t want to doom any of these if you were an omniscient deity, no?

Starry Starry Cat

While this clearly takes inspiration from a certain 19th-century artwork. Artist Jim Beattie puts a unique twist on the piece. Whereas the original featured a wide landscape of 19th-century France, Jim’s piece is laser-focused on a feline friend that sits in front of the stars. The cast sits along a quiet beach, calmly staring at something off to the left.

Simple Cat

We end off on a wholesome and simple note. Someone commissioned n artist to draw their friend’s pet for their birthday, and it is a delight to see. Hopefully, the friend appreciated it!

Art is such a gift to mankind, and so are cats. Combining the two certainly makes for an amazing experience that allows us to calm down and unwind, forgetting our struggles and for a moment, just being there for each other and ourselves…and our beloved pet cats.
